This will involve the interaction between academics working in Sport and Exercise Sciences, Engineering and Computer Science, and leading practitioners from the English Institute of Sport (EIS) working directly with some of the UK’s most successful sports’ National Governing Bodies. In recent years, greater instrumentation and monitoring have led to a dramatic increase in the volume of data that aims to quantify different aspects of sporting performance. However, much like in many aspects of wider society, this increase in data collection has often superseded the rate at which practitioners have been able to understand and interpret the meaningfulness of the data and the potential application and communication of its findings. By applying advanced data analytics and visualization techniques from a range of disciplines, this project will enable the critical features of complex sporting systems to be identified, translated into meaningful insight, and ultimately applied to potentially impact elite sporting performance.

Eligibility
Candidates must have a minimum of an upper 2.1 degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences, Computer Science or other relevant discipline or non-UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University.
